Analog Housou Radio – I am Kirishima

They made another movie about everyone’s favorite grinning left-wing terrorist, Kirishima Satoshi! After the release of Adachi Masao’s Tōsō (The Escape) in March, another Wakamatsu Pro alumnus, Banmei Takahashi, also made a film about Japan’s legendary outlaw, titled Kirishima Desu (I Am Kirishima). Once again, I sat down with OG Analog Housou contributor, long-time friend, and LaserDisc enthusiast Carter McKendry to chat about the film. You can listen to our previous discussion looking at Tōsō here.

What does this take on Kirishima’s life bring to the table? How does it stack up against Tōsō? Listen on to find out!

Reposting some key references from last time below.

And lastly, some references on the talent involved in this film.

  • Banmei Takahashi – director and co-writer of the film, and a former member of Wakamatsu Pro
  • Maiguma Katsuya – the actor portraying Kirishima throughout the film (…I have a feeling I called him “Kaiguma…”)
